So this past weekend, I decided to color my locs black. I have never seen my hair black, so I didn’t know what to expect. My hair has always been light brown as far back as I can remember; my Lucian folks would even go far as saying I had shabin hair, lol. But I wanted to embrace it before I get back that itch to cut it or comb it out so I thought maybe another color would help me. I have always colored my hair myself, whether it was permed or in it natural state but I still wanted to go on YouTube for assistance. Not many people dyed their hair black so that was futile…so I took a leap of faith and went to Walgreen’s and got this:
This is the finished outcome, will definitely need to redo in 4-6 weeks, and trust me it is a little darker…my hair is real light. I think I should have kept it longer! I also started it too late in the evening and all I was thinking is how am I going to dry that hair tonight…went to bed with it wet and 2 days later I have the sniffles 🙁
A closer look of it:
I am still liking the color and can’t wait to redo. For anyone looking to do this if you do not want to go to a professional, I would recommend to follow the directions to the “t” and also if your hair is long and can’t see the back, get someone to help you. In 4-6 weeks time I will be batting my eye-lashes for my husband to help me redo.
Besos 🙂
