Some Seasons Just Take Longer Than Expected

I’m going to be honest with you today.

I’m tired.

Not the kind of tired that a good night’s sleep fixes. Not the kind that a week of working from home while they install new furniture takes care of.

The deep kind. The kind that lives in your bones. The kind that has been there for months and just quietly follows you from Monday to Monday like a shadow you’ve stopped trying to shake.

I wake up at 4 am every morning.

And some mornings I lie there in the dark, and I think, how many more of these?

Not in a dramatic way. Just in the way that honest, tired people think when nobody is watching, and the house is still, and the day hasn’t started demanding things yet.

Just how many more?

I have been holding on to faith harder than I have in a long time.

Not the pretty kind of faith. Not the kind that shows up in a nice quote on a graphic with good lighting.

The kind where you are gripping it because it is the only thing you have some days. The kind where you don’t feel it working, but you refuse to let it go. The kind where you show up to your prayers in the morning, not because everything is fine, but because everything is not fine, and you need something bigger than yourself to hold what you can’t.

That kind of faith.

And it’s holding me. Even when I can’t feel it. Even when the week is long, and the tiredness is deep, and Friday feels like the only finish line worth crossing.

Friday.

I want to talk about Friday for a second.

Friday has become something sacred to me. Not because anything dramatic happens. But because it means I made it. Another week at 4 am. Another week of showing up. Another week of holding it together.

Friday means I can exhale.

And I do. Every single week. Like my body has been waiting all week just to breathe.

I didn’t plan to write this post today.

I planned something more put-together. Something with a cleaner arc and a tidier ending.

But I’ve been gone for a minute, and I think the most honest thing I can do is just walk back in the door and tell you the truth.

Some seasons just take longer than expected.

You think you’re almost through, and then you look up, and there’s more road ahead. You think the tired will lift, and it doesn’t, not all the way. You think by now things would look different, and they don’t, not yet.

And you just keep going.

Not because you have it figured out. Not because the strength comes easily. But because you are still here. Still showing up. Still gripping faith with both hands, even on the days it feels like a lot to ask.

That counts for something.

I have to believe that counts for something.

If you are in a long season right now, one that has stretched beyond what you expected, beyond what feels fair, beyond what you thought you could carry, I want you to know I see you.

We don’t talk enough about the seasons that just… last. The ones that don’t have a dramatic turning point or a clean resolution. The ones where the victory is just making it to Friday.

But making it to Friday is real.

Holding on to faith when it’s hard is real.

Showing up tired is real.

And one day, not today, maybe not this week, but one day the season will shift.

Until then, I’ll be here. Tired and faithful and still showing up.

Just like you.
