Why do people cry at weddings?

August 23, 2012

This past weekend I attended one of my high school friend's wedding and lawd was the tears just flowing.  While the groom was waiting her late arrival 🙂 they played “Where Have You Been” by Rihanna and this brought on my tears.

Granted I always cry at weddings, this one was a bit much for me.  My tears were not tears of sadness but more so of joy for my friend.  I was very happy for her that she had finally found a guy that she chose to share the rest of her life with.  She and I have shared a lot and I know where she has been and what she endured in her life and hearing the words of the song which I felt was the best song to describe the two of them was just a joyous crying moment.

It is said that on average, women cry about 64 times a year, while men cry only 17 times per year.  Everyone reacts differently to occasions and events and they should not be judged, there is no wrong or right when people cry.  Crying is also a healthy way to release emotions and it can even lift your spirits.

So do you cry at weddings?  I know I am not the only sap out there 🙂

P.S. Here is to Mr & Mrs Wisdom! God bless your union and congratulations once more.
